Independent Living Skills Specialist

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
BeechWood Inc. is looking for part and full time Independent Living Specialists to work in and around the Twin Cities Metro area. This position works with clients dealing with physical and mental disabilities (including brain inury.) We assist clients to live independently and successfully in their homes and out in the community.

Duties may include: helping clients gain and/or maintain stable housing, applying for public assistance benefits, budgeting, problem solving, goal setting, and other various tasks related to living successfully as an independent person. Basic weekly documentation is an important function of the position.

Qualifications:
Ideal candidate should be self-motivated, comfortable working independently, have strong inter-personal skills, and the ability to communicate effectively and professionally.

Education and Experience: 
BA/BS degree in Human Services or a related field preferred; One year of Human Services experience; Experience working with people who have mental illness is preferred.

Additional Requirements:
The ability to lift weight in excess of 25 pounds and have reliable transportation.
